Painting on rocks!!

Hi Friends,

Today’s topic may not be new to everyone, but I really enjoy doing it..:) Painting on rocks can be done with no expense and  a fun craft for kids too.  I would say go grab some Washable markers/sharpie from a dollar store or a nearby stationery and keep them handy.

I found mine @ http://www.dollartree.com/Washable-Broadline-Markers-10-ct-Packs/p310837/index.pro?method=search

Don’t you think it is cute & beautiful??

While browsing Pinterest I found amazing stuff, some are cute, some are funny and some intricate. For this craft all you need is a set of markers and pebbles/stones and if you stay close to beach you are blessed..:)

I am still blessed because I live in a place where temperatures are triple-digit desert extremes…;)  My front yard landscaping is pebbles and it wasn’t hard for me to make and watch on how these life less pebbles/rocks turned out beautiful. However, in my next visit to beach I am going to carry back a ton of them..;)

I made the Owl painting with a little motivational quote and use it as paper weight. I can’t say how unique it is.

I also painted fish and sticked a piece of magnet(from Home Depot)  and made 2 little fridge magnets..:)

You can help your toddler write a message for special occasions/draw  and stick a magnet.  That way you can save it forever and enjoy watching everyday.  The options are endless and hope you enjoy painting on rocks as much I do and if possible share your creations…:)

Happy Crafting!!

Oh, I loveeeee SPRING

SPRING IS HERE!!

Image

Yayyy!!! Officially it starts today and I couldn’t be happier.

However, in Arizona we had mild winters and  weather was “SPRING LIKE” from past couple of weeks..;)

I am sure my friends and family in East coast are so excited and hoping the weather gets better.

ImageOf all the seasons, SPRING is my favorite. My husband enjoys the change of seasons more than I do. The reason is he lived in Singapore for almost 10 years and unfortunately, we have no seasons there.  Can you believe it??? All through the year it is either sunny or raining.

oh my, I cannot stop expressing, how cheerful I am during this season.  On the other hand, I am always amazed to watch how dead trees get their life.  Everything changes from brown to green. With the fresh air around, birds keep singing and it is so vibrant and refreshing.

I get to spend more time in our garden, sowing seeds, watering and waiting/watching  them to sprout..:) They are my babies and I take utmost care until they can take care of themselves..;)

Well, now let my pictures speak and here are some from our garden/backyard and hope you enjoy watching them…:)

Beans, Beet & Carrot Greens Salad

Hi Foodies,

Well, this is my first blog and I have been thinking to blog for almost an year and finally, here I am with an absolutely yummy cold/warm salad.  I can’t wait to share how easy, delicious and healthy it is…:)

Image

Isn’t that yummmmm!!!

This is the first time I saved beet and carrot greens and wanted to make something where they don’t cook for long.  Believe me they have got great flavor and taste. Beet greens tasted salty and carrot green were sweet.  Isn’t that a great combination for a salad???

Image

I m sorry that I don’t have all the pictures…:(

What you need :

Few Beet and carrot greens ( as per your taste)

1/4 cup of chickpeas and black eyed peas

1/4 tsp of Cumin seeds

1/2 tsp of Oil

1 Red bell pepper

Few sprigs of Basil and Cilantro

1 clove of Garlic (optional)

Salt and pepper for taste

1/2 lemon and orange juice

2 tsp of grated carrot for garnish

How you make it:

On a skillet heat 1/2 tsp of oil and to it add the cumin seeds.  Let the cumin seeds fry well.

Add the beans ( chickpea & Black eyed peas). You can pick the beans of your choice. It can be Pinto beans, Kidney beans, green beans etc.  I soaked the beans overnight and boiled until soft.  You can used canned too. Saute it for few minutes.

Add the chopped greens, basil and cilantro. Also add little salt and red bell peppers.

Image

Let it cook for 3-5 minutes.  Since we used less oil, keep stirring so that the bottom doesn’t stick.

Once it is done put it aside and let it cool. It can be had warm too  (don’t add lemon/orange juice while it is hot)

Then, add the squeezed 1/2 lemon and orange juice, pepper and the grated carrot.

There you go with a yummilicous lunch and don’t forget to add a glass of cold milk..:)
